Hands-on Volunteering

Are you or your group looking for a hands-on volunteer opportunity? CFA holds a community refurbishing and/or packaging day about every six weeks. Volunteers gather in warehouse space generously donated by MainFreight, formerly Target Logistics, in Omaha, NE. Contact CFA if you are interested in joining us.

Volunteer jobs include:

  • Test PCs, load OS and ghost new image
  • Test monitors (a non-technical job)
  • Sort, clean and bubble wrap keyboards
  • Sort, clean and band mice
  • Cut 120V plugs off power cords and band
  • Stuff peripheral bags
  • Assemble and tape boxes
  • Fill boxes with peanuts and refurbished PC systems
  • Stack and shrink wrap completed boxes on pallets. Move pallets
  • Label boxes with content, community name, and notices
  • Load a 40-foot shipping container with 600 boxes
  • Set up work space prior to event
