About Us - Our Core Values
CFA's co-founders spent two years living and working in Africa, developing a program that would eventually identify four key tenets.
![]() Follow a Standard of "Generous Excellence"
Send the best you can, and support it with services informed by beneficiary input.
Our quality labs come with tested, same-model computers, each with operating system, applications and network capability. Our program fee is lower than those charged by many NGOs offering no follow up services. Our dynamic program is continually shaped by reports from CFA staff in Africa, enabling us to quickly respond to challenges on the ground. ![]() Scattershot is Usually Lost
Build on successes in one region at a time, to develop a solid base for lasting, region-wide
change.
CFA’s "Technology cluster model" gives the greatest return on time, funds and energy while changing how a district sees itself and is seen by others. Intensely focusing on a region increases business capacity, adding a large pool of potential entrepreneurs and employees knowledgeable in basic Information Technology skills. It increases educational capacity with administrative efficiency, more students (especially females) prepared for advanced education, and on-line educational resources for teachers. Internet connects the district with neighbors, the capital city, and the world. Responsible end-of-life recycling for PCs is growing in Uganda - addressing the impact of e-waste on the environment. |
![]() Work Yourself Out of a Job
Acknowledge what is. Then give people the skills and tools to fashion a new future without
you.
CFA qualifies schools before they enter our program. Computer teachers receive assistance setting up their labs and then attend CFA Maintenance and Repair School together, drastically reducing hardware breakdowns and expensive repair bills. The return on investment in technology includes savings in operational expenses and income generated from offering classes to the larger community. ![]() Bring it Together: Hearts, Hands, Hardware
Lift the human spirit. Build connections on and between continents.
In all of our services, CFA encourages the strengthening of African relationships. By the time we leave an area, schools have generally formed their own Association for on-going support. How do we do it? Techies, grandmothers, students, military, business people working as a USA team, refurbish and package PC labs for 30 African schools a year. CFA fosters international relationships bringing USA refurbishers and African beneficiaries together to celebrate and learn about each other. |
